Biography
My name is Brittany Walker. I am 22 years old from Buckley, WA. I am a senior at Pacific Lutheran University where I major in Studio Art. Halfway through my time at PLU I realized the importance of communications, advertising, and marketing. This is where I chose to expand my goals and skill set into travel and commercial shoots. After college I hope to enter the work force by doing something that involves lots of social interaction world wide as well as developing new ways to advertise products to a global audience.

My love for photography started when I was about 6 years old and my parents bought me a disposable camera for one of our annual family road trips. From there on my grandpa showed me works by Ansel Adams and bought me a subscription to National Geographic magazine. When I reached high school I was exposed to a professional photographer Adam Leahy who encouraged me to expand my skill set and artistic eye. This lead me to taking the photographs that won me an Artistic Achievement Scholarship at PLU.
Moving forward my mission is to travel the world in order to photograph nature, culture, religion, and beauty.

Artist Statement
Art is my way to express what my mind and heart cannot communicate to one another. These photographs represent what makes my heart sing; they display a journey that I have taken around the state of Washington to capture its beauty.
Washington is my home and there are incredible hidden treasures and adventures found all around the state, from the depths of their evergreen trees to its beautiful mountains.
Photography and woodworking are my ways of taking the world's beauty and making it tangible. I focus on the natural lighting and colors that are seen on a normal, daily basis. My photographs focus on detail and color, and are printed as both landscapes and portraits.
The narrative I wish to tell is the journey I did around Washington to find its true beauty. After the struggles I faced physically and emotionally during college, I wanted to focus on the positive aspects of my life and the world. The most positive influences and inspirations in my life are the people around me. The people I am surrounded by, including both friends and family, encourage me to thrive as an artist and a person. I learn from their life experiences and am encouraged by their passions and successes. I rely on my friends and family to help guid me through life; because of them, I am who I am today.
